What is Nageela?

We’re so glad you asked! Nageela West Coast creates social and educational programs that excite Jewish children all over the region! We specialize in elementary and middle school students, and our most popular events include after school social programs, Shabbaton weekend retreats, Bnei Mitzvah preparation, Hebrew School and holiday party bashes! Our flagship program is CAMP NAGEELA WEST, an overnight Jewish camp program!

Camp Nageela West opened our doors in 2011 and summer 2025 will be our 16th summer. As a small West Coast camp, we’ve called a number of places home over the the past 15 summers. Utah, Arizona, California and beyond. After spending a couple of years as a travel camp with exciting itineraries featuring National parks, beaches, camping and landmark touring, we’ve decided to take a summer to be a little more grounded.

Why is Nageela Important?

So many items compete for attention in the life of a child or young adult. There's schoolwork, sports, family, friends, hobbies... where does Judaism fit in?

It can be difficult to develop happy, passionate Jewish adults. Frankly, most kids don't gain very much from sitting through a Synagogue service or reading the Bible.

Nageela creates a community of peers. Kids who are connected in their Judaism, and enjoy getting together, seeing each other at weekly programs, seasonal events and summer camp. Throw in energetic, caring mentors and volunteers, and you have a recipe for children who love being Jewish, want to learn and grow and are a part of a community.
